A HAND-REARED barn owl is missing after it broke free from its perch in a Darfield garden.
Four-month-old Casper disappeared from Howard Street last Friday evening and owner Jade Cuthbert believe he broke free from his tethers after being startled.
Jade, 20, raised Casper from a chick.
"He looks at me like a mother and can't hunt for himself. When I found the empty perch, I had to look three times to make sure it was real."
Casper was last spotted on Saturday morning by a neighbour in the woods behind Jade's house.
She added: "He's really friendly. If you saw him, all you would have to do is call his name and put your hand out and he would come sit on it."
