LONG delays are expected as plans for a £265,000 resurfacing job on a busy through road are unveiled.
Laithes Lane in Athersley will be reduced to one lane for seven weeks when the entire length of the road is resurfaced next month.
Council assistant highways director Alan Carnall said a shuttle system with traffic lights would be put in place to keep delays to a minimum.
“Laithes Lane is included in our local roads maintenance programme for this financial year.
“The whole length is to be resurfaced, starting from where the A61 traffic signals improvement works ended, to the roundabout at Carlton Road.”
Work is scheduled to begin on the road in the middle of February.
