PARENTS of children aged between two and four are encouraged to take them for their free flu vaccine.

It is a nasal spray which is quick, effective, painless, and has very few side effects.

It will not give them flu.

It is also available to the following groups: pregnant women, people over 65, people under 65 who have a long term health condition and registered carers.

Dr Nick Balac, GP and chairman of Barnsley Clinical Commissioning Group, said: "If you're eligible for a free flu vaccination, it's because you need it. I would advise people to speak to their doctor or midwife. We understand that a lot of people don't have time to get to their doctor's surgery so, if you are over 18, you can also get your free vaccination from a number of local chemists."
