A ROW has broken out over £250,000 of 'community money' that is to be spent upgrading a sports centre.
The £250,000 is being paid in compensation by Barnsley College to Barnsley Council for the loss of the sports pitches at Carrington Avenue, where there are plans to build 120 new houses but most of the money will be spent improving and upgrading the all weather pitch at the Dorothy Hyman stadium in Cudworth.
Old Town councillors Phil Davies and Liz Grundy are outraged that the money is being spent on the other side of the borough instead of the area where sports pitches have been lost.
