RESIDENTS have vented their fury about a quad bike track in Scout Dike which they say is forcing them out of their homes. Kingswood’s Educational Centre Peak Venture, on Huddersfield Road, Penistone, has had two quad bike tracks running without planning permission for 12 months, it is claimed. And pollution from noise and increased traffic is proving unbearable for residents who feel their voice is not being heard. Carr Lodge Farm owner Eric Lodge, of Elsecar, claims that his former tenants moved out of the farm house directly opposite the track because of disturbance. “It upset them a lot, and they had horses who weren't very happy about the noise. It’s absolutely stupid putting it in that position,” he said.
Scout Dike resident Susan Sampson, 55, said: “We get a lot of noise, especially in summer when we’re out in the garden. Sometimes they go on until 9.30 at night.” Neighbour Margaret White, 58, added: “In summer all you can smell is diesel from coaches going to the track and centre, and it'll escalate, going on till later. People think they’ve hardly been any objections but that's because there are only a couple of us living close to the site. In fact it’s a case of 100 percent objections.” she said. “I just want to move — this is one in a long list of things that I know will affect the value of my property.”
