A TOWN centre building which has stood empty for several years could be transformed into a children's play centre and cafe.
An application to convert the ground floor of Citrus Rooms, a former nightclub on Eastgate, has been submitted by Nicholas Hadfield, of Bainton Drive, Barnsley.
In his application, Mr Hadfield said the centre will provide families with a superior entertainment venue, with the opportunity to enjoy the 'adventure of play together in a relaxed family-orientated atmosphere'.
The proposals include a sensory area for children who are disabled or have special needs and offering a fitness programme for children.
