THIS former HMV store in the town centre is to be used as a 'theatre' and the producer behind the project is looking for other old shops and spaces to perform in across the Barnsley area.
Twelve Miles North is producing an original play which will be performed in the former HMV store but producers are also looking for empty or available shop spaces in Wombwell, Goldthorpe, Penistone and Mexborough to use in June.
Liz Simmons, cofounder, said: "The play is a touching funny tale, just over an hour long, about a Barnsley shop keeper who owns a small business. It's about friendship, loyalty and struggle.
"It is all my Dad's stories that he told me. He owned Simmons News on the High Street in Dodworth. It is inspired by his customers and their relationship with him, these amazing, brilliant characters."
