TWO members of a Barnsley family are suffering from a debilitating bone condition that is so rare there are only 200 known cases in the world.
Gareth Oldham, 30, was diagnosed with Camurati–Engelmann disease (CED) when he was just five-years-old.
CED causes thickening of the bones, some of which grow longer and heavier than normal. It also leads to severe pain, muscle weakness and extreme tiredness.
His father Derek, 64, has the same extremely rare genetic condition.
Gareth's family are now trying to raise £6,500 to buy him a lighter more manoeuvrable wheelchair.
The family are now setting up a Just Giving page to co-ordinate their fundraising. Tanya can be contacted on 07412 614944.
