BARUGH Green Primary school is celebrating a hat-trick of outstanding Ofsted reports.
Three consecutive inspections have given an overall rating of ‘outstanding’, the only school in Barnsley to achieve three on the trot.
An inspection at the end of January showed very high standards in English, maths and science and pupils to be well cared for and happy. Exceptional standards of teaching and effective leadership and management were also highlighted.
No significant areas for improvement are specified in the report which states: “Barugh Green is an outstanding school that has sustained exceptional standards and achievement for many years.
"All the staff demonstrate a shared commitment to achieve excellence and, above all, a determination that all pupils should succeed.
"All pupils make very strong progress from Reception through to Year 6 because teaching across the school is excellent.”
Headteacher Michael Gilmore has been in charge at Barugh Green for 13 years and is extremely pleased with the report.
He said: “We are very proud. It’s due to the dedication of high quality staff and high quality support staff.
"We know all the children and parents will share in this continued success”.
He added that it is wonderful to sustain such high standards with so many staff changes. Out of 12 teaching staff, 8 had not previously been assessed by Ofsted.
