CALLOUS yobs broke into an allotment and killed almost 50 pigeons by breaking their legs, pulling off their wings and chopping off their heads.
Scott Algar was horrified when he discovered the scene at his allotment on Field Lane Allotments, Stairfoot, and immediately called the police.
Scott, 41, of Chestnut Crescent, said: "It's quite heartwrenching - I've had some of my pigeons since they were babies and some were 14-years-old. It's despicable. To be killed in that way must have been excruciating for the birds."
On the same morning, another allotment holder also discovered the majority of his birds had also been killed in the same manner.
