A CHANCE meeting between a Darton artist and a former gallery owner whilst he painted her home has led to his first exhibition being held this month.

Garry Miller, 55, from Airedale Road, met High Hoyland gallery owner Alison Johnson after he painted her home whilst out landscaping.  All Hallows Gallery owner and resident Alison lives on Church Lane, and is reopening it for a special weekend exhibition of Garry's work.

Garry said he had always drawn and painted but had to take a break after the tragic death of his son, aged 14.  "I used to do cartoons for my son Bradley," he said. "In 1997 we had a tragic loss, and all my painting stopped.  "Depression was a constant companion. One day I decided to just put my painting stuff in the back of the car, go out and look for nice scenes."

Garry's exhibition is on at the All Hallows Gallery, Church Lane, High Hoyland, on June 20 and 21 from 10am to 5.30pm. It is free admission and everyone is welcome.
