FLEDGLING Barnsley businesses are invited to enter a competition to win a year's free office space and a package of support, mentoring and advertising exposure worth up to £10,000.

The Barnsley Chronicle and Barnsley Business and Innovation Centre (BBIC) have teamed up to run the Barnsley Means Business competition, launched today, to help a small business no more than two years old. It could even be a new business which has not yet started trading.

The winner of this sponsorship from the Chronicle will be able to trade from a professional business environment in a unit of up to 500 sq ft free for one year. They will also win mentoring support, business support and the opportunity to engage with like-minded entrepreneurs.

Anyone with a strong business idea simply needs to fill in a short application form outlining their plan to be in with a chance of winning. A shortlist of applicants will then be invited to submit a business plan to the judging panel.

To request an application form email mike.cotton@barnsley-chronicle.co.uk

The closing date is Friday July 24.
