A BARNSLEY girl who has suffered severe arthritis since she was just two has vowed to help raise money for Sheffield Children's Hospital which has been treating her for a decade.

Amber Darlington, 12, is holding a coffee morning, bake sale and craft fair at her home in Athersley South on Friday June 26 for the Children's Hospital Charity's annual Make it Better Day.

She is determined to try and make things better for other young people at the hospital she spends so much time at, despite suffering often quite debilitating symptoms from her arthritis.

She said: "If my friends are going dancing or ice skating, I can join in but I just end up collapsing because it hurts too much. It's like my legs just stop, even though the rest of my body wants to keep going.

"Sometimes I can't speak because my jaw is so sore and stiff that when I move it, I just make little noises and I have to text what I want to say. Then if my fingers are painful, I can't text so I'm just speechless."
