ABOUT 50 people heard trade unionists speak out against BNP politics and racism at a meeting.
Barnsley Trades Council organised the event and its chairman Brian Steele claims areas where the BNP has gained support have seen an increase in violence and attacks.
He added: “Barnsley trade unions are committed to supporting people and opposing the politics of hatred and division.”
Mass leafleting has been arranged in Darton on Sunday, starting outside Kexborough Primary at noon.
