LABOUR has retained its seat in the Dearne North by-election.
The election was called following the death of Coun Dave Sim in May. Annette Gollick has been elected to serve the Dearne North ward for Labour. The full result was as follows:
Annette Gollick, Labour Party, 817 votes Jim Johnson, UKIP, 140 votes Tony Devoy, Yorkshire First, 115 votes Karen Jane Fletcher, TUSC, 55 votes Lee Ogden, Conservative Party, 43 votes
Turnout was 14.58 per cent. The electorate for Dearne North is 8,020.
