STREET beggars in Barnsley should be fined or arrested, according to a town centre businessman.
David Wood, who has run a chippy on Eldon Street for six years, wants police action to tackle what he believes is a growing problem of 'aggressive begging' in Barnsley town centre.
"I noticed a scruffy looking man asking people for money as people were passing by, some of these people were mothers with children and pensioners," said David. "It's like going back to Dickens' times. These people shouldn't be there. They should be arrested or fined."
David has now written to Dan Jarvis, Barnsley Central MP, to raise his concerns.
