PARKING problems during busy events at Elsecar Heritage Centre could get worse after a food firm decided to close a site used informally by visitors for parking.
There had been a 'gentleman's agreement' allowing cars to park on a plot of land known as The Greenway opposite the Newcomen beam engine at the heritage centre.
The land is owned by Dawson Food Service Equipment on Wath Road. But Dawson's has now decided to close the site to vehicles.
As well as visitors to the heritage centre, the land was also used by some traders there as they moved stock in and out of their shop and took deliveries.
