A GROUP of like-minded people who came together to tirelessly improve and maintain Wilthorpe Park have been nominated for their dedication and hardwork.
The Friends of Wilthorpe Park came together in 2014 and formed a Saturday morning club to maintain and improve the park's flower beds which were under serious threat of being removed due to government funding cuts.
They turned up every week throughout the winter months and enlisted the help of Wilthorpe Primary School and the local children's centre.Local residents also allowed them use of their water supply to water the plants.
The group has been nominated by Lee Swift at Barnsley Council, who works with members.
