STEVE Anderton's joy at learning he had a long lost brother soon turned to heartache when he realised he'd found him 18 months too late.
The brother Steve never knew, Dave Harrison, died last year aged 69.
But Steve, 67, was astonished to learn that the pair had lived on the same street growing up and probably even 'played out' together, but neither knew the other even existed.
Years later they lived in the same village again and had a mutual friend called Malcolm Beaumont but they never made the connection.
Steve said: "My advice to anyone who's in a similar position and thinking about tracing their relatives, get on and do it, because you never know when it's going to be too late."
