Josh Scowen says he will not alter the way he plays even if it means he will pick up suspensions.
The midfielder, 22, missed Barnsley's midweek clash at Bradford City after picking up five bookings.
He accepts it's inevitable in the modern game that he will get booked regularly.
But he was frustrated that he had to miss the trip to Valley Parade.
Scowen says his playing style has got him this far and he does not want to change it.
He told the Chronicle: "I don't like it when the team is playing and I'm not.
"It's not nice. I kept checking the score and updates on twitter.
"It's one of them things that happens in my game. I'll try and cut them out as much as I can.
"Every season I get suspended. It's the way that I've always played and I'm not planning on changing that.
"I will pick up suspensions and bookings here and there but if I can limit them as much as I can then that will be good."
Scowen shares the frustrations of supporters when it comes to their recent league form but says he's confident that the wins will come.
The former Wycombe man feels one of Barnsley's opponents will soon be in for a hiding.
He added: "I think the performances have been fairly consistent.
"It's just finding the back of the net more and creating a few more clear cut chances that we need to do.
"With the players we have got in the team, sooner or later we are going to spank someone four or five nil.
"As soon as we get that bit of luck we will win the games and push ourselves up the league."
