A BARNSLEY Sea Cadet has been honoured by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant for his outstanding service
Oliver Ingham, 16, has been appointed the Lord-Lieutenant’s Cadet for South Yorkshire - the highest honour that can be achieved by a cadet in any of the cadet forces.
Corporal Ingham was appointed by the Lord-Lieutenant for South Yorkshire, Andrew Coombe, at a special ceremony held at Scarborough Barracks in Doncaster in front of family, friends and local dignitaries, including the High Sheriff of South Yorkshire John Holt.
Described in the ceremony as a very active Royal Marine cadet who gives 100 per cent to Barnsley Sea Cadet Corps, Oliver has been instrumental in helping fundraise and support the unit, often giving up many of his weekends to do so.
