SHOPPERS have expressed their frustration after approved plans to turn Wombwell High Street’s toilets into a takeaway have failed to come to fruition.

Plans to turn the closed toilets, near the Post Office on High Street, into a takeaway were approved by Barnsley Council in October last year - but since then, nothing has happened.

Shopper Amanda Harrison, 47, from Rutland Place, Wombwell, said: “If you need the toilet desperately you have to go into a cafe and then you feel like you should buy something. The toilets were so filthy they were shut down, and now they want something doing with them.”

“It amazes me nothing has been done.”
