AN INDIAN-owned business is to open a warehouse in Barnsley creating 100 new jobs, it was announced today.
It is part of a £9 billion package of commercial deals agreed between India and the UK to coincide with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to the UK this week.
Number 10 announced today that Indian company TVS plans to open a £20 million advanced logistics facility in Barnsley generating 100 new jobs, growing to 500 across the TVS Group over five years.
Prime Minister David Cameron said: "TVS opening a new £20m facility in Barnsley is fantastic news for the region and another example of business embracing the potential of the Northern Powerhouse zone.
"This investment in the Barnsley region shows how our long-term economic plan is working for all of the UK by attracting investment and ensuring people have the chance to get on, offering them security and opportunity."
As part of Team LEIDOS, TVS is integral to delivering £500 million of procurement savings to the Ministry of Defence over 13 years.
