THE FUTURE of the only youth group in Thurnscoe has been secured even though the place they meet is expected to be sold.
Gr8 M8s, formerly the Hickleton Youth Project, will remain based at the Thurnscoe Business Centre, their home of 25 years, even if the centre is sold at auction later this year.
The youth group has agreed a seven year lease with owners Barnsley Council to remain in the building which was once the pithead baths for Hickleton Colliery.
Gr8 M8’s project manager Wendy Cuthbert says the extension will allow them to continue keeping youngsters off the street.
