A SINGLE mum from Wombwell says she is homeless and has asked the council to provide her with a house.

Carrie Hopkinson, 24, says she has stayed in various places with family and friends, but nowhere has been suitable long term. She works six days a week packing school meals.

She said: “I am going from pillar to post. I’ve stayed with friends, family, in a travel lodge and even a caravan. On Saturday the council sent me to Glastonbury House temporary accommodation in Sheffield, but I didn’t feel safe so I left.

“I don’t live off benefits, I work hard. I just need setting up with a house. The council say I’m not homeless, so I’m not getting priority.”

Carrie claims she gave the council a month's notice that she would no longer be able to stay at the flat where she spent the most time.
