A FIVE-year-old boy needed 78 stitches in his head after being flung from a quad bike.

The driver, a 13-year-old girl, was trying to escape a dog on the Crown Avenue Estate in Cudworth when she crashed into the wall of a house.

Kai Stonier, of Parkland View, Lundwood, was riding on the bike's handlebars at the time.

It is thought he panicked and pressed the throttle, sending the quad into the wall with such force that it dislodged one of its bricks.

Police feared the accident would be fatal but mum Jodie said Kai was back to normal the next day.
