DODWORTH library keeps more than just books on its shelves.
It also houses the work of artist Barry Thornton, 62, from Broadway Court, Barnsley.
Landscape artist Barry said: “Dodworth library is sort of my overspill. I had that many paintings in my flat, I asked if I could put some up on the top of the bookshelves. It has become a permanent collection there.
“All my work is in oils, of landscapes and seascapes. I’m a landscape painter, and I do quite a bit of coastal work too but more lands and local scenes in a pretty traditional oil on canvas style. I am also a member of Saddleworth Group of Artists, and we have gone to France, Switzerland, America painting.”
Barry found his artistic flair at school, but went into engineering after leaving.
