LOW Barugh residents are being urged to sign a petition about traffic problems on Dearne Hall Road.

After a spate of accidents and near misses on the busy road, Millers’ Inn landlord Wayne Stephenson says it is a death trap. He believes speed is the main issue and a mobile speed camera unit should be monitoring traffic.

He added that HGVs should be restricted and told the Chronicle some locals, including himself, are willing to block the road unless something is done.

The petition asks the council to ‘prepare plans and access finance to provide the Northern Orbital Route to relieve the pressure on Dearne Hall Road and its junction with Barnsley Road’.

All supporters are asked to call in to the pub on Dearne Hall Road and sign the petition.
