A CHURCH school is failing its pupils and requires ‘special measures’ to help solve its problems.

Teaching at St Mary’s at Worsbrough is so poor pupils in the final year achieve well below average standards _ with many falling a year behind.

Worringly, Ofsted inspectors say the situation is so bad there is, ‘at present no demonstrable capacity to improve’.

The Chronicle exclusively revealed last month that inspectors had visited and were taking the drastic action against the school.

Ofsted would not comment when the story was broken but its official report was published on Monday — and reveals education there is inadequate.

The report berates the leadership and says the school does not provide value for money.
