HUNDREDS of lives have been changed through a befriending service set up to tackle loneliness and isolation of Barnsley’s older people.
The services is run by the Barnsley branch of the Royal Voluntary Service, based at Priory Campus, Lundwood, and covers the Central, Dodworth, Kingstone, Stairfoot and Worsbrough wards.
It has been running for 18 months and in that time has helped more than 400 people, making in excess of 2,000 home visits across the five wards.
