AN AMBULANCE destroyed two market stalls on its way through the middle of the town centre en route to help a man who had collapsed.
The ambulance had been called to deal with a man who had collapsed near the disabled toilet between Marks and Spencer and Halifax bank, and drove to the scene from the Alhambra end of town through Cheapside.
Witness Geoff Fox, who works at the Digital Media Centre for PR firm Deadline Digital said: “It hit it with some force and it was just lucky that two men who were walking under the stall at the time escaped uninjured.”
