THE Old Town Hall clock is ticking once again after receiving some TLC from its old caretaker.
The clock, which is on the wall of the Old Town Hall pub on the corner of Station Road and the High Street, is showing the right time for the first time in years.
Steve Clegg, 61, from Loxley Avenue, Wombwell, was asked to take a look by landlord Terry Ward.
Steve, who used to wind the clock when he worked for Barnsley Council in 2001, said: “Terry said to me, ‘you used to wind it up, fancy getting it going again?’ So I decided to pop in last Friday. After three hours it stopped, and I had to wind it again, but I checked again (on Monday) and it is still going.”
