NEW bell ringers are being recruited by the team at Wortley St Leonard’s Church now its eight bells have been restored and are ringing properly.
Worn bearings had made the bells increasingly difficult to ring, and they would have become impossible to use had they not been restored.
They are now back in the tower but are still subject to adjustment work to ensure they are all working to optimum efficiency
The offer is open to anyone over the age of 11 and will give the opportunity to try bell ringing under close supervision.
