SHAFTON Playgroup has been told that it requires improvement by education watchdog Ofsted.
The group, which runs from Monday to Friday from its base at Shafton Community Centre, off High Street, was praised for its teaching quality, children’s behaviour and the progress they are making but was marked down on the effectiveness of its leadership and management.
“The management team has a poor understanding of the legal requirements in relation to their responsibilities under the Data Protection Act,” the report, written by inspector Catherine Mather, said.
“They have not implemented an effective system to monitor the progress that different groups of children are making. Staff do not gather as much information as possible from parents about what children know and can already do when they first start at the playgroup.
