A BARNSLEY couple are raising money towards a new special care baby unit at Barnsley Hospital following the death of their son who was born 15 weeks early.

Jonah Rose was just four days old when he died in October.

His early arrival meant he had a severe hole in his right lung which was releasing oxygen and causing him distress breathing.

He was placed on a support ventilator and closely looked after by the team at Barnsley Hospital before being transferred to Bradford Royal Infirmary where he died.

His parents, Katie and Daniel Rose, of Church House Mews, Jump, are launching a fundraising challenge in memory of Jonah, starting with the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge in June.
