A DOG was bound and gagged before it was thrown in a fishing lake and left to drown.
RSPCA officers found insulation tape had been used to strap its legs together when they found the Staffordshire Bull Terrier floating in Smithies pond.
It had tape all around its body, including its mouth and nose. The officers believe it was alive when thrown in the water. The Chronicle was provided with pictures of the dog but they were too disturbing to publish.
Chief Inspector Matt Bell said: “This is a shocking act of cruelty which I believe would have taken more than one person to commit."
