LIMOUSINES are so last school year.

When this group of 16-year-olds wanted to arrive in style for their final year prom they opted for a helicopter instead of a stretched luxury car.

When they arrived at Kingstone High on Tuesday evening all their mates had turned out to watch them land.

School mates Daniel Connolly, Keiran Bates, Dominic Allen, Adam Sowerby and Joe Halstead were bought the £500, 25 minute chopper ride from Sheffield as a leaving present.

Joe said it was fantastic.

"It was better than I thought it was going to be. It could not have been better. "We got to do a circle of the the school before we landed and everyone came over to see us get out. We all got to see where our houses were and we could see Oakwell. It was really good."

When Joe left primary school he and some friends had a limousine ride and the helicopter idea stemmed from that.

He said: "I fancied something a bit different because limousines are getting boring. The helicopter was the first thing that came to mind."

Mum Janet said: "When they left junior school they had a stretched limousine and thought it was fantastic. I said at the time, 'what are we going to do when they leave senior school?'

"We laughed about getting a plane but it ended up as a helicopter. It was a first for Kingstone school."
