KES star Dai Bradley has given his support to plans for a statue depicting ‘Billy Casper and his kestrel’ dedicated to the writer Barry Hines.
Dai, who played Billy Casper in the 1969 film based on Barry’s book A Kestrel for a Knave, said he would give his blessing to his likeness being used for the project, and said he thought it a wonderful idea.

“Barry inspired so many youngsters ‘not to be like Billy’, so I think if it was that image of that character he created, that would be a wonderful tribute.
“Barry really was a very important writer.”
