DEAN Ingram is in no doubt whatsoever - a group of strangers saved his life.
The 40-year-old motorcyclist was trapped underneath a car that was crushing him when the unknown rescuers sprang into action on Wakefield Road and literally lifted the car off him so paramedics could work on him.
Directed by an off duty nurse, the men managed to lift the large family car off Dean and they all then looked after him until the emergency services arrived.
Speaking from his hospital bed after major surgery to try to rebuild his shattered leg, Dean said: “If it wasn’t for the help of everyone who was there, I am sure I would not have made it.
“I was struggling to breathe - the weight of the car was crushing down on me more and more and I thought - this is it, I am dying.”
