FAR Out Theatre pulled down the curtain on its production of Kes with a triumphant flourish after being acclaimed by the original author.
Lawrence Till’s adaptation from Barry Hines’ book A Kestrel for a Knave was performed at Montgomery Hall, Wath-upon-Dearne last week with Mr Hines in the final night’s audience.
“We were thrilled that he could come and he said that the production was amazing,” said director Vicky Evans.
“He knows it word for word, but he was really moved. Everyone had a good old cry at the end.”
Actor David ‘Dai’ Bradley, who played Billy Casper in the film, had promised to attend but failed to turn up, although he attended the company’s production at Dearne Playhouse in April.
