Conor Hourihane says his future is at Barnsley and hopes that this current Reds team stay together for years.Barnsley’s captain – who has 11 goals and 20 assists this season – is one of several Reds players attracting the attentions of clubs at higher levels.

But he insists he is committed to the Oakwell club, telling the Chronicle: “I see my future here without a doubt. I have a really soft spot for the club. In the two years I have been here, a lot of positive things have gone on.

“We’ve got a great squad. Hopefully we can keep the majority of them together and hopefully there will be many more years of this to come.”

Sunday’s play-off final opponents Millwall are known for a more direct style than the Reds. Hourihane said: “They are good side, like anyone would be who gets to the play-off final. They’ve got some experienced players and hopefully we can nullify their threats and come out on top.

“The pitch will be in fantastic condition and we like to pass the ball around so that might go in our favour. They like to go a bit more direct and we have to recognise that. We’re doing a lot of preparation for it on the training pitch.”
