WORSBROUGH Common residents have finally been told that the council wants to demolish their homes.

The threat of bulldozers has been hanging over the Bruce Avenue area for years due to delays in putting together a ‘master plan’ for the village.

After much deliberation, Berneslai Homes’ tenants were at last invited to look at models showing how the council would like the estate to look.

A Berneslai Homes spokesman said 130 people attended the consultation events at which it was confirmed that Frederick Place and Mount Close will be knocked down.

Their views will be taken into account when approval is sought for the demolition of Bruce Avenue, Mount Vernon Avenue and Vernon Close.

Even if the streets are not demolished, Berneslai Homes still wants to remodel them.
