AN appeal to raise money for a new special care baby unit at Barnsley Hospital was given an unexpected boost when an anonymous donor contributed £2,000.
The Tiny Hearts Appeal aims to raise £1m for the new unit, which would help provide a better standard of care to babies in a comfortable environment.
As part of the appeal, an incubator has been placed in the hospital’s main reception into which people could make cash donations.
Staff at the hospital’s charity received a surprise phone call from security staff to say the incubator was full of £20 notes.
