THE mum of a teenager killed in a quarry nearly two months ago says security fencing being erected by the owners has come too late.

Amber Worth’s mum, Kate Roystone, said the work at the quarry, next to Carlton Brickyard at Grimethorpe, should have been done years ago.

The fence has been put up over the last couple of weeks and prior to that security guards were seen patrolling the site.

Amber, 13, died when she was crushed by a boulder while playing with friends in the quarrry. An investigation into the accident is continuing.

Kate, of Park View, Brierley, said: “It doesn’t matter how high the fence is, it isn’t going to fetch my daughter back.

“Why didn’t they have someone patrolling before the accident because there were no fences up then."
