FINAL rehearsals are underway for the latest production of the Razzmatazz Community Youth Music Theatre Company.

The 60-strong group of ten to 18-year-olds are to be the first youth theatre company to stage Disney’s new ‘High School Musical’.

Producer Christine Cooksey described the fun musical as ‘Grease meets Fame’.

The plot centres on two American teenagers who met on a winter ski holiday singing karaoke together and discovering a mutual love for music. By chance when they return after the break, they find themselves at the same school.

Basketball team captain Troy and science boffin Gabriella are thrown together as lead roles in their school musical.

But his friends from the basketball team and hers from the academic group do their best to break up the partnership.

Honorary President, Dorothy Molyneux, said: “I am really proud of the children who have so much talent and who are using it to give pleasure to the community.

“Between shows they take their voices into residential homes where they are appreciated and enjoyed so much, they are asked back.”
