A BARNSLEY church which does not currently have a vicar is appealing for donations to help with running costs and increased expenses.
St Edward’s Church in Racecommon Road will be open on Saturday October 1 between 10am and 2pm for their traditional Gift Day Appeal.
In previous years on Gift Day, the vicar was often seen sitting outside the church door, sometimes in a caravan.
He did so in order to meet parishioners and receive their donations towards church upkeep and thank them personally.
