A 77-YEAR-OLD widow claims she has been kept awake during the night for three months because of the noisy bedroom antics of her next door neighbour.

Joan Parish, of Worsbrough Dale, says she has put up with an almighty and embarrassing racket until early in the morning for 13 weeks.

Her bedroom wall is marked with dents from the canister she bangs against it to try to get her neighbour to quieten down and the pensioner now has to grab what sleep she can during the day.

Joan's daughters, who live in Leeds, have stayed the night to hear the rumpus for themselves but the council will not install a device to make recordings of the nocturnal goings on for evidence.

Instead officers have told Joan she must keep a three week detailed diary of everything she hears to establish whether or not the gadget is needed.

Daughter Dawn said: “I cannot believe they would make her go through this, she needs sleep, surely they could make an exception in this case.”

A council spokesman said it would make enquiries and added: “Diary records are important evidence."
