A MOTHER whose son beat cancer is helping to raise £125,000 for the refurbishment of the unit where he was treated.
Ros Foggin’s son, James, was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin lymphoma at 17.
He endured gruelling chemotherapy for the aggressive cancer at the Teenage Cancer Trust unit at St James’s Hospital in Leeds.
Initially James had a pain in his hip which was thought to be muscular or his bones, but it was a tumour that had attached itself to his pelvis.
Ros saw the difference the unit made and has joined forces with another mum, Sarah Dawson, from Staveley in Cumbria, whose son Al died in 2007 aged 16 after being diagnosed osteosarcoma, a form of bone cancer.
