TWO horses died after being hit by a train which left them with horrifying injuries and their 11-year-old owner in despair.
Darryl Ashby said his daughter Samantha was left heartbroken by the incident at about 6.30am on Monday. Two of the family’s horses had escaped through a broken fence belonging to Network Rail onto the railway line near their home at Dearne Hall Road, Barugh Green.
“She’s a really tough little 11-year-old but this has really taken it out of her,” said Darryl, 48.
“Tony was her daily ride, her pride and joy.”
