SCAMMERS claiming to be from Barnsley Citizen’s Advice Bureau are contacting local residents and offering services for a fee, the boss of the local bureau has told the Chronicle.
Chief executive Jo Clark said clients had been in touch to say they had been contacted by con men purporting to be from Barnsley CAB, prompting her to issue a warning to people so they do not get caught out by the fraudsters.
Jo said: “We have heard from several people recently who have been called by someone claiming to be from Citizen’s Advice.
“We do not call people without asking for their permission beforehand and we do not sell our advice services or ask for money.”
